About Flinders University

Since its founding in 1966, Flinders University has achieved many of its goals across many different areas, including innovative research, high quality instruction and community involvement. Moreover, Flinders University has led the way in providing access to higher education for individuals who did not traditionally aspire to a university education.

Flinders has attracted students from over 100 countries around the globe and their alumni have built successful careers and lives that enrich communities across Australia and throughout the world.

Flinders' many achievements are underpinned by the network of strong external links that the school has developed over the years with its stakeholders and with the communities it serves. The institution is committed to providing an environment that is outwardly engaged, and continues to build supportive and valued relationships with its many industry partners and other community organizations.

Flinders University is committed to five main values that characterize all of its programs. These include being:

  • Socially responsible
  • Student centered
  • Distinctive in research
  • Globally connected
  • Sustainable and rewarding

Each of these values is equally important to the overall success of the university.  More important, however, is the way these values interact collectively to advance the school’s underlying vision of making a real difference in the world.  Flinders University aims to transform the lives of individuals and communities, and to find ethical and innovative solutions to help make a positive difference to society’s most challenging problems.

The school’s unique Study Smart online resource has also been designed to provide students with additional materials in areas where they may need specific help. The staff members heading up the International Study Center are highly skilled in dealing with the needs and requirements of international students—assisting them in organizing their studies, selecting the right university course and helping them with any personal difficulties they may encounter while living away from home.

International students are guaranteed a pathway to a world-class degree, as successful completion of the Diploma at the International Study Center allows them to progress to Flinders University’s business or commerce degrees with credit.
