The University of the Balearic Islands is a Balearic Spanish university, founded in 1978 and located in Palma on the island of Majorca. It is divided into the faculties of Philosophy, Science, Law, Education, Economic and Business, Psychology, Polytechnic School, School of Business, School of Nursing and Physiotherapy, and University School of Tourism. The UIB also has University Schools Adscritas, which are private establishments offering university degrees recognized by the University of the Balearic Islands and valid for Spain as well. These are: University School Alberta Gimenez – for all teaching specialties, communications and journalism; University School of Industrial Relations; University School of Tourism's Island Council of Ibiza and Formentera – for tourism; and finally, University School of Tourism Felipe Moreno.
