The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya started its operations is 1997 to provide teaching of Spanish to Foreigners. The institute is located in Barcelona, Spain. It offers a wide range of Spanish learning programs, according to the needs of the students. The courses generally offered at the institute are basic communication, advanced studies and business Spanish. The Intensive course is scheduled at Sant Cugat campus from Monday to Friday whereas the Intermediate course is offered at Barcelona campus on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All programs offered at the institute are formulated according to The European Higher Area courtesy of UIC.

The International University of Catalunya is an institution of higher learning, which started its operations in 1997. The school offers University degrees, master and postgraduate degrees, PhDs, and International Programs in a variety of fields. As of the 2008-2009 academic year, it made all study programs compliant with the regulations established by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). This meant imparting all bachelor and diploma courses as formal degree programs. It also introduced new courses, such as the Degree in Medicine, The Degree in Publicity and Public Relations, and The Degree in Political Science and Public Administration. The university highly stresses the importance of personalized education, and keeps all its lectures at a maximum of 80 students per lecture; about 40% of the learning program is dedicated to practical-based classes, too.
