The University of North Carolina Wilmington was established in the form of Wilmington College in 1947. It is a public institution, which is most known for its film studies, creative writing, and marine biology programs. Overall, it accepts undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students into one of the following academic departments: Cameron School of Business; College of Arts and Sciences; College of Health and Human Services, Watson School of Education, and Graduate School. The University of North Carolina Wilmington is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, also being highly committed to diversity and to the improvement of quality of life.
