Description
The Gran Canaria School of Languages is specialised in the teaching of Spanish to foreign students since 1964. The teachers are highly specialised and have long experience. The school is a member of other Spanish and local cultural and professional associations. It is also recognised since 1986 by the German government of Hamburg and Hessen as a collaborator in teaching Spanish (Bildungsurlaub) for professional training. The Gran Canaria SOL has the CEELE quality recognition of the University of Alcalá. The school owns 3 buildings near each other and all of them only a few meters from the beach of Las Palmas (Canteras Beach). In one of the building the school and cafeteria are located, the other two are the residences. Starting dates: Standard Group: first Monday of every month for beginners for as many weeks as desired. Students with other levels can join this group as it progresses through the different levels. Standard Group 2W: third Monday of every month for 2 weeks only and only for beginners.

Admission Requirements:
Minimum age is 16. All payments have to be made in advance by bank transfer with no charges to the beneficiary to the schools account at the Caja Madrid, Albareda 7 Street, 35008 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, SWIFT code: CAHMESMMXXX; IBAN: ES83 2038 9000 3168 0001 5186. Credit card payments are also accepted (Visa and MasterCard).
Language Requirements:
Absolute beginners: no knowledge required. Other levels: corresponding knowledge. A placement test will be done before starting in the course.
Fees:
Fees 2009: 1 to 3 weeks group tuition: 140 Euros/week. 4 weeks group tuition: 420 Euros. Private tuition: 275 Euros/10 hours. Semiprivate tuition: 210 Euros/10 hours. 10 Extra lessons with teacher, for students already in a group, all levels: 220 Euros. 10 Extra lessons with computer course under the supervision of a teacher, levels A1 and A2: 50 Euros. Lodging in sigle room with private bathroom and halfboard: 285 Euros/week. Lodging in shared room with private bathroom and halfboard: 200 Euros/week. Lodging in room for two coming together with private bathroom and halfboard: 350 Euros/week. Tuition material not included in tuition price.

Housing:
The school offers two residences next to the beach and at walking distance from the school. Single and double rooms are offered, all with private bathroom. Rooms are equipped with a satellite TV, free DSL internet access and a safety deposit box. Bed sheets and towels are provided. A common room equipped with refrigerator, toaster, microwave, coffee-machine, water boiler, sink, dishes and cutlery may be used by all residents. No cooking hub available. Included in the price is cleaning of the room twice a week, washing (not ironing) of personal clothing and halfboard (breakfast and lunch on class days, only dinner on week ends or festivities).
Services and Activities:
We offer following services: general Spanish courses in groups, private or semiprivate tuition, DELE preparation and Spanish for specific purposes. Lodging in single or double rooms with private bathroom, cleaning of the room, washing of personal clothing and halfboard. Use of Internet, weekly excursions to places of interest on the island, visits to folk dances, museums, film discussions, lectures, dinners, outings. Sports activities can be organzed on demand.
