Study in Kiev, Ukraine

Long cited as a beacon of industry and enlightenment for Eastern Europe, Kiev has surpassed all expectations to become the busy, globally recognized Ukrainian city it is today. The city mixes old and new in a seamless tapestry of ancient pride and modern-day innovation. This acceptance of the future with the preservation of the past extends to its educational institutions, which support learning and growth at every available moral and intellectual level.

With over a hundred higher education institutions available in Kiev, the capital city is a prime location for both students in Ukraine, as well as international visitors. It possesses more opportunities for students than anywhere else in the country, and much of Eastern Europe. Many of these institutions are national, public schools with deep-rooted investments in medical, computer and industrial research, making these studies more highly sought than in other areas.

An impressive selection of international schools, specialty colleges and academies await future students in Kiev. In fact, a majority of the higher education institutions in Kiev specialize in certain content areas (such as management or technology) as opposed to providing general fields of study.

Kiev also offers students a variety of activities and experience unique to Ukraine and the city itself. Ride the one-of-a-kind funicular rail system to catch the scenic views, or visit one of the many museums or historic sites. There are excellent locations for backpacking and hiking, fragrant open-air markets and plenty of places to catch live music or dancing lessons.

Other considerations for students choosing to study in Kiev include:

  • Majority of courses taught in Ukrainian and Russian.
  • Somewhat threatening crime rates.
  • Some institutions are religiously affiliated.

Major Fields of Study in Kiev

Due to Kiev’s status as a major industrial and technical producer in Eastern Europe, many of the studies pursued within the city pertain to these areas. This is not, however, unanimous; courses are extremely diverse and unique in many of Kiev’s schools, even though some programs may be sought out more often.

Industrial studies, such as those pertaining to engineering, technology and science, are extremely prominent in Kiev. Since many universities are paired with research institutions, this comes as little surprise. The related fields most commonly studied in Kiev, as a result, include:
  • Computer science
  • Technology
  • Applied sciences
  • Engineering studies

Other schools specialize in studies regarding agriculture, business management, theatre, architecture and even aviation. These studies simply have the largest number of programs and facilities available in Kiev.
