UIC’s teaching programme puts great importance on care, research and professional leadership. Students are what matters most, which is why UIC provide an energizing environment in which to learn. Over the course of a degree students will progress leadership skills and put them into practice in the Unit for Teaching and Research in Nursing Care (AIDIR). Students will have the chance to take on external clinical seminars at public and private care centres and institutions. They will start practising in an open and contemporary mock healthcare setting focused on student learning, without putting the patient in danger. Students will attend interdisciplinary classes that put stress on peer-to-peer learning amongst Medicine students. Students learn with a teaching staff specialized in all areas and in constant innovation, thanks to their research task that are operating to improve the quality of their classes. The personal instruction students receive allows UIC to understand their abilities and offer them guidance throughout their time at UIC.

Postgraduate in Surgical Nursing, Anaesthetics, Resuscitation and Pain Therapy

The development of surgery, anaesthesia, resuscitation and pain therapy along with the use of new technologies mean that the surgical arena is a highly multifaceted area. Nursing professionals must react to this new situation based on strong, specific and continuing education in order to perform. UIC’s Postgraduate Degree in Advanced Nursing, taught in connection with the Hospital General de Catalunya (HGC), will help achieve the required and vital competences to work as a perioperative nurse. The main aim of this postgraduate degree is to realise excellence in basic skills and a professional specialisation in perioperative nursing; To widen and develop knowledge and skills to offer complete and quality care to surgical patients; To attain advanced professional skills in the surgical area; and To teach the largest number of perioperatory experts in excellence.

Training Course for Clinical Tutors for Practicums

The objective of the Training Course for Clinical Tutors for Practicums is to provide students with a wide range of knowledge and skills which will allow them to properly undertake a relationship with the participants they teach within the framework of learning based on dialogue and two-way communication. The course is aimed at nursing professionals who embark on their activities along with students, in classes for professional work placements. Course objectives are: To analyse the perception of the teaching role of nurses; to get the ability to use teaching methods that are suitable for the planned tutoring tasks; to know how to use assessment tools that are suitable for the tutorial; to develop communication and interpersonal relationship skills with students and to develop assertiveness methods to tutor students.
