Medical students will participate in health awareness campaigns and prevention, and generally assist nursing and other staff. Medical professionals will attend to families and children, and give general help, volunteers without experience but who have an interest or desire to work in the Health Sector can also fully participate in this program.
Description:
Volunteers will be rewarded as they help in various self-contained community health centers, all dedicated to the delivery of general health care and disease prevention. Each center is situated in an extremely poor area known as a “favela.” The centers are run on a day-to-day basis by a team of health care professionals, usually consisting of 1 or 2 doctors and, at the most, a few nurses, and an auxiliary staff consisting of a cook, janitor, and administrative support. Medical students and health care professionals have an opportunity to have a direct contribution in their area of expertise. Help is needed in general medicine, pharmacy, nursing, nutrition, and social work and Maternity Hospital. But if you have a desire to work in the community healthcare sector, but have no experience, this is also a wonderful opportunity to work on a worthwhile project.

Young Brazilians from 5 to 17 years old attend this camp for fun and to learn English. GeoVisions places volunteer camp counselors here to help contribute to the campers' better use of the English language and the understanding of our culture. Throughout projects, sports, and group activities, the campers are exposed to the practice of English and lots of fun!
Volunteer Activities:
Organize educational projects and games to involve and expose the children to English;

Description:
For centuries, Brazil has reigned as king of South American countries. From the dark, steamy mystery of the Amazon rainforest to the pulse-quickening sambas of its exuberant Carnaval, Brazil beckons the Western adventurer. The fifth largest country in the world, Brazil is bounded by whitewashed, pristine beaches and filled with an immense unspoiled habitat and traditional villages hidden among the many tributaries of the mighty Amazon River. With its thousands of different landscapes, amazing diversity of plant and animal species, and its vibrant indigenous people, Brazil is a paradise for the senses.
The northeastern cities of Recife and Olinda, time-honored monuments to Brazil’s Portuguese colonization, are locations of Global Crossroad’s Brazilian volunteer projects. Our program offers the opportunity to stroll the winding streets with their convents, art galleries, and continuous music while giving to the expressive people of Brazil through volunteer service.
