Volunteers on this placement should have a good understanding of HIV/AIDS and be confident in working on this subject. It would be worth doing some research before arrival into HIV/AIDS and drug related problems in Malaysia specifically. You will need to be pro-active, flexible and imaginative as many of the projects survive on minimal resources.
Description:
This project presents the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of those affected by AIDS in Kuala Lumpur. Working with a community homes programme you will be helping with a range of activities from assisting with the running of the programme and raising awareness in the community, to preparing food for the patients. AIDS is still a taboo subject in Malaysia therefore volunteers are vital to help maintain the great work that this already overstretched project does for the local communities....
