The beaches in the middle of the sea are commonly called cayes in Belize.  One of the most famous cayes in Belize is the world famous Ambergris Caye and it is also the largest of 200 cayes. This island is surrounded by white sands with 5-star hotels.

Near Ambergris Caye lies the Great Blue Hole. Everyone who sees this up close and personal would sure get astounded as to how such an underwater sink hole was ever formed.

The second largest barrier reef in the world, the Belize Barrier Reef, also attracts tourists by the truckloads. The Great Barrier Reef in Australia is halfway around the world so deciding to see the second largest barrier reef is not a hard decision to make. The Belize Barrier reef is the number one tourist drawer to date. Tourist who would like to see marine biodiversity can go snorkeling and scuba diving in the Belize Barrier Reef and then after that go frolic in the beach the Caribbean way.

When one get tired of the beach, they can then go inland towards Lamanai where a Mayan archeological site is located. Once in Lamanai, be sure to drop by the High Temple in Lamanai that’s shaped like an Incan pyramid. Witness also ancient artifacts and potteries made by the Mayans. Speaking of pyramids, there is another, a much taller one in Caracol, Cayo District.

Another memorable site to see in the Belize is the caves in the western part of the country. The Western Belize Caves are famous because these caves are also archeological sites. It is said that the caves of Belize is the most extensive in Central America. Beautiful beaches, big reefs, underwater sink holes ancient ruins, and adventure caves, Belize has them all.
