Visa application requirements for Congo

You are here: Countries / Congo

When planning to enter the Republic of the Congo, the individual must take note of the following travel requirements: a valid passport, a valid visa, yellow fever vaccination, and a letter of invitation or proof of hotel reservation in the country. All of which are to be presented to the immigration officers upon arrival in the country.

In January 2010, a new travel regulation has been set by the Republic of the Congo. From then on, all the Congolese Embassies and Consulates shall issue their own unique entry visa. This means that visas to the Congo are all identical no matter where you have applied for your visa. At that, an individual’s entry to the country may be denied if he would still use the old visa even if it is still valid.

All visas are for multiple entries. Requirements for visa application for entry in Congo may depend on which country you came from, what nationality you are, and what your purpose of visit is. Multiple entry visas come in a 15-day period or a 30-day period. Upon application, visa application processing takes about 2 days if you applied personally, or up to 4 days if you sent your application through mail.

Valid passports mean validity for at least 6 months prior to the person’s travel date.

It is not recommended to travel in the Pool region as there are rebel groups present in the area. Vaccinations for yellow fever, cholera, polio, rabies, meningitis, and typhoid fever are recommended as there are limited medical facilities in the country.
