Visa application requirements for Djibouti

You are here: Countries / Djibouti

When travelling to other countries, one must be able to take note of the travel requirements of each and every country. Foreign travellers who want to visit Djibouti will need a visa to enter its premises.

There are 4 types of visas issued by the country, each having their own purpose: entry visa (Visa de Se’jour), tourist visa (Visa de Tourisme), business visa (Visa d’Affaires) and transit visa (Visa de Transit). For visa applications, one must take note of the following requirements: (1) valid passport (at least 6 months valid prior to date of visit in Djibouti) with at least 3 blank pages; (2) fully accomplished visa application forms; (3) passport size photos; (4) a copy of your round trip tickets or your travel itinerary; (5) proof of sufficient funds for your stay in the country; and (6) a business letter with your company letterhead stating your business purpose in the country as well as the host company in Djibouti (for business visa only).

Allow 3 to 5 working days for the processing of your visa application. However, the embassy of Djibouti suggests that you should have your visa application processed at least one month before your target travel date so as to avoid having problems regarding your trip. Processing fees vary depending on the type of visa you are applying for.

Visas processed in the French embassy in Paris are valid for 1 to 10 days. Validity can be extended for a certain period of time once in Djibouti.
