Estonia is recognized around the world for its e-services. Branded as E-stonia, the Estonian government provides its people with e-services like e-commerce, e-banking, and even e-parking. The e-commerce for instance gives ordinary citizens access to use the mobile phones to enjoy services like paying for parking fees, transfer of money to friend, or paying for any purchase made. Estonia is making its way toward becoming a laboratory of innovative technological projects which will eventually erase its communist past. A long list of programming projects is now under development and sooner or later, Estonia will launch more sophisticated services.

Computers are put in many classrooms to give young students the learning environment and trigger their interest in the use of the Internet. Internet centers are put up in rural areas and wireless hot spots across the country are being established. Many countries have hot spots but Estonia provides free access for everybody. Free lesson programs to learn the use of Internet are given to Estonians by the government.

The prevalence of e-culture in Estonia paved the way to the best practices for its citizen. Citizens are now enjoying the opportunities to send applications through the Internet. Payment systems are now more centralized and efficient. Today, Estonia is an embodiment of a society that is moving toward sophisticated information society with more advanced and innovative technologies.

Other than e-services, Estonia also provides social welfare services to persons and families that require assistance in coping with difficulties and special social needs. All social services and social benefits enjoyed by Estonians are financed by the state budget and local government budgets.
