Mali being an underdeveloped State has inadequate infrastructures and facilities to accommodate local services. Nonetheless, it optimizes limited resources in the pursuit of providing convenient and accessible services to the public. These include accommodation, banking, telecommunication, and transportation services. This way, it can attract livelihood opportunities to the locals.

Tourism is a budding sector which promotes the many different attractions in the country. Not only that, it also propels hotel and accommodation subsector. In fact, Mali showcases a selection of top rated hotels and resorts across the territory such as Azalai Hotel Salam, Kempinski Hotel El Farouk Bamako, Laico El Farouk Bamako, Laico Hotel El Amitie Bamako, and Olympe International Hotel.

Banking is another active sector made possible by a collection of financial institutions. Commercial banks include Central Bank of West African State, Bank of Africa, Bank of Atlantique Mali, Banque d l’Habitat Du Mali , and Malian Solidarity Bank. All these and more offers an array of banking and financial services.

Telecommunication sector is noteworthy in a landlocked nation subdivided by land masses. In 1999, telecom subscription is characterized by 980 telephone lines and 5,000 mobile lines. There are three major Malian telecom operators such as Sotelma (state-owned telecom), Ikatel (affiliated to France telecom), and Malitel (private telecom).

Transportation sector features a selection of transport infrastructures in land, water, and air. Land transport is made possible through 729km public railway system and 18,563km national highway system. Water transport makes use of 1,815km of interior waterways along with the Niger River Port. Airway transport is facilitated through 29 airports in which eight are already comprised of paved runways.
