Visa application requirements for Mali

You are here: Countries / Mali

Mali is an open country that welcomes foreign visits given legitimate entry passes. The Foreign Affairs Ministry handles the matter through the various embassies and consulates distributed overseas. These ministry arms facilitate processing of visa application and issuance for successful entry to Malian territory.

There are many different embassies and consulates located worldwide. Mali embassies can be found in Algeria, Arcadia, Belgium, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Canada, China, Congo, Cuba, Egypt, France, Germany, Ghana, Indonesia, Italy, Libya, Morocco, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Tunisia, and United States. In the same way Mali Consulates can be found in Brazil, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Equatorial Guinea, Hong Kong, Philippines, and Senegal.

Mali embassies and consulates issue tourist and business visas either for single or multiple entries. Common requisites include passport (valid for six months at least), fully filled out application form, photographs, onward or return travel ticket, hotel reservation, health certificate, and letter of invitation and letter of travel details (in case of business trips). Processing fees also apply according to given rates.

In general, no visa exemption is granted to foreign nationals even to westerners. As a matter of fact, this applies to Americans, Australians, British, Canadians, Irish, New Zealanders, and South Africans. Consequently, these foreign nationals need to present personal passport and visa for lawful entry in Malian lands.

Exception to the general rule is the case of West African nationals holding authentic identity cards. Also, those nationals without Mali embassy or consulate representation in their country of origin are allowed to secure necessary visa upon arrival subject to prior approval of the Director of Security.
