The country of Netherlands has quite a number of tourist locations in its every region. In its capital city alone (Amsterdam), there are already several hot spots to visit and wander about. Known for its maritime climate with generous winds from the sea, the Netherlands boasts of the Amsterdam Windmills which are 8 gorgeous windmills serving as a tourist destination. Aside from the windmills, Amsterdam also has more than 50 museums where its citizens and visitors from all over the world can discover the country’s beauty through historical museums, art museums, and a whole lot more. Some of these museums include the Van Gogh museum, Stedelijk museum, and the Rijks museum.

Amsterdam’s canals are also well know and dubbed as “The Venice of the North.” The Netherlands has a number of waterways which makes it a hub for maritime trading.

Dam Square, located in the heart of Amsterdam, is the place to be. A tourist hot spot in the area is the Royal Palace which occupies majority of the square. It was originally the town hall and is admired because of its picturesque classic façade and fine, antique sculptures.

The Artis Zoo has 3 main parts: the zoo, the planetarium, and the Geological and Zoological museum. It is very popular as it is the oldest zoo in the Netherlands.

The Magere Brug, or Skinny Bridge as they call it, is the most famous bridge in the Netherlands. It is a double leaf bridge which connects the banks of the Amstel River. The bridge opens about every 20 minutes for boats passing by the river.
