Pakistan is characterized by series of wars, conflicts and political debacles nowadays. Many people would think that there are no interesting things about the country and it is also dangerous for foreigners to visit it. This is not always true because there are still more to Pakistan than what most of us think. In contrary to the popular belief, Pakistan is known to be an excellent tourism capital because of its diverse cultures, unique people and magnificent landscapes.

Some of the country’s very popular tourist spots are the ruins and monuments that survived the Mohenko-daro, Harappa, and Taxila civilizations. In addition the Himalayan hill stations found in the country are also loved by sports enthusiasts during the winter season. Being a home to various mountain peaks that exceed 7,000 m, many people who love adventures are attracted to it as well as mountaineers coming from the different parts of the world. The most popular of these mountain peaks is the K2.

The northern region of Pakistan is very famous for old fortresses, architectures surviving the ancient times, the Hunza and the Chitral which both served as shelters to the animist Kalasha community that settled in the region during pre-islamic period. The people of this community claim that they are the descendants of Alexander the great. Other popular places include the North West Frontier Province and the Punjab province. It is believed that Alexander the great fought one of his battles in the Jhelum River, which is located in the Punjab province. We can also find Mughal architectures like Badshashi, Masjid, Tomb of Jahangir, Lahore fort, and Shalimar gardens.
