Seychelles healthcare is above par against other small countries being regarded as a good role model for its health programs for its people.  Comprehensive healthcare is given to all citizens free of charge.  No matter what medical assistance the people need, the health department assures to serve its people including dental and optical needs.

  To ensure the free medical assistance for the people, the government has placed many regional clinics all around the islands to keep the trips of the people relatively short.  For the major hospitals in the country, Mahe has 2 big and well-equipped hospitals, as majority of the people live in this side of the country.  There is another big hospital in Praslin and a much smaller hospital in La Digue.  

  The country enjoys a network of competent licensed medical doctors.  There are private doctors who can come to treat one’s minor ailments or personal problems.  It is not surprising to get a call from these doctors in the hotel room when one visit Seychelles and when one do need them. One can only avail the services of these doctors if the mode of payment is in cash and in full payment for they do not accept payment through insurance.  It is best to file for reimbursement claim from your insurance company.

  Seychelles does not have a history of unpleasant diseases, so therefore, no precautionary measures are needed.  People are not required to get preparatory immunizations except when you are entering the country through mainland Africa in which case you will need Malaria and Yellow Fever shots.  For those who want to travel Seychelles, be wary of Traveller’s diarrhea for it is the most common travel ailment.  It is best to be cautious with the food and water taken while in Seychelles.
