Visa application requirements for Slovakia

Slovakia is part of Schengen, an area in the European Union where people may travel freely without having to undergo border checks from the various countries that make up this group. Member states that make up the Schengen area are Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and the Swiss confederation. They also adopt a uniform visa policy.

Many countries have an agreement with the Slovak Republic that doesn’t require its citizens to apply for a visa to enter the country. To see if one is covered by the visa exemption you may contact their nearest embassy in your locale to find out.

For those who need to apply for a visa, you must present or accomplished the following requirements:

- A passport that is valid for at least up to six months - A fully completed and signed application form - A recent colored I.D. picture - The purpose of the trip - Proof of funds either in the form of a bank statement or traveler’s checks that will be use during the travel and stay in the country or the Schengen area. - An onward or return ticket or a confirm itinerary. - Valid travel and insurance documents with a minimum amount of at least thirty thousand Euros. - Proof of visa fee payment.

These requirements may vary or change depending on the purpose of the visit and stay and the Slovak republic may change its visa policies from time to time.
