The educational system of Chad is patterned after the French model, having the levels of primary, secondary and higher education. The secondary education is offered for seven years and affords students the option to go into vocational courses such as hotel management, fashion designing and other livelihood programs of study.

Higher education is offered in the university or a collegiate institution. The Ecole Normale Superiere is another higher education institute that offers courses for secondary school teachers.

Vocational education consists of two levels for primary school graduates. The first level is a 3-year program at a college after which they can transfer to a technical school. The second level consists of a study in a lycee or public secondary school for 6-year programs. The other vocational training schools include the Ecole Nationale Administration in N’Djamena, Postal and Telecommunications School in Sarh, Technical Education School on Public Works, and the Ba-lli Agricultural School.
