Visa application requirements for Chad

You are here: Countries / Chad

Because of the current civil strife in Chad, the government has issued a travel advice to all foreign nationals against all travels to the country, especially the country’s capital city N’Djamena, except when such travel is necessary. If political conditions are to become normal, the entry requirements for tourists and travelers remain also normal. To enter the country, a visa is required. This is a stamp or endorsement placed by Chad officials on a passport allowing the bearer to visit the country. Once approved, the visa is valid for only 30 days from date of approval for a stay of up to 30 days.

Visa is required of the citizens of the following countries: Canada, United States, India, Jamaica, United Kingdom, Pakistan and Russia. In addition to a visa, a passport and return ticket are required of the nationals of Britain, Australia, Canada, USA, and other European Union countries. They do not include those who are continuing their trip within 48 hours with the same flight or the first connecting flight. Nationals who are not mentioned in the list are required to visit the Embassy to check the requirements for obtaining a visa.

The requirements for obtaining a visa include a valid passport with six-month remaining validity, three completed visa application forms, three passport-size photographs, copy of a round-trip ticket or itinerary, international certificate of vaccination for yellow fever, a completed cover letter or business letter—in the case of a business visa—typewritten in company letterhead, pointing out the purpose and duration of the trip, or a letter from the sending department or agency, for those traveling with official or diplomatic passport.
