Tajikistan is an accommodating country open to foreign visitors upon legitimate entry. Executive office has vested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to administer on this matter. In turn, this administrative body delegated processing and issuance of visa as well as related concerns to embassies and consulates representing the State abroad.
In particular, the country is well represented worldwide in Asia, Europe, and America. In fact, embassy and consulate offices are located in Afghanistan, Austria, Belarussia, Belgium, China, Germany, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Russia, United States, and Uzbekistan. Consulate offices on these countries offer immediate visa processing and issuance for valid entry to the Tajik territory.
Securing visa can be done through embassies abroad or right upon arrival at Dushanbe Airport. Entrance on land borders though, require embassy application beforehand. General requirements in visa application include filled-out application form, letter of invitation, passport (preferably six months validity), photographs, self-addressed envelope (postal application), and specified processing fee.
Unlike other Central Asian countries, no visa exemption is granted to European countries. In fact, nationals from Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States, and other European countries are required to present passport (at least three months validity) and visa for successful entry. As to nationals of other countries, it is advisable to inquire on the nearest embassy.
Types of visa issued vary as to single, double, or multiple entry. Validity according to duration varies as to preferred length of stay such as 30 days, 60 days, or 90 days. Also, there are domestic procedural requirements that must be sought upon entry in specified places in the country. These include check post registration, Gorno Badakshan special travel permit, Sarez Lake special permit, etc.
