Visa application requirements for Samoa

You are here: Countries / Samoa

Samoa is an accommodating State that welcomes visitors to showcase its national wonders. Regulation of entry passes is regulated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade through Samoan Embassies and Consulates. These offices have the delegated executive mandate to make convenient entry in the Samoan territory accordingly.

Consular offices are available worldwide such as the Consulate General of Samoa (Pagopago, American Samoa), Samoan High Commission (Canberra, Australia), Embassy of Samoa (Brussels, Belgium), Samoa High Commission (Wellington, New Zealand) and Samoa Consulate General (Auckland, New Zealand), and Samoa Mission to the United Nations (New York, USA).

Basic requirements in the application of Visa include valid passport (for at least six months), secured onward or return ticket, lodging accommodation arrangements, bank statement (proof of financial stability), and strictly no record of delinquency (deportation and criminal history). Types of visa issued are of temporary (business and tourist) and permanent nature (residency).

Visa exemption privileges are granted to western nationals such as those from the United States and Europe. In particular the list consists of Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States, and other European countries. Nationals from these countries only need to secure valid passport and plain ticket (return or onward) except for American Samoans who are obliged to apply for single or multiple entry permit (whichever applies) before visit.

Non-visa entry is limited for up to 60-day stay in which the foreign nationals must also show financial eligibility for personal sustenance during the visit. Upon extension of stay, application of permit may be done beforehand or thereafter by simply coordinating with Consular offices. As for nationals not included on the list, it is advisable to contact embassies for further details.
