Peace Studies

Bircham University’s Peace Studies program addresses the essential questions in peace studies from various points of view. What does peace mean? How can we understand development, sustainability, democracy, violence, conflict, security, equality and justice? What human ethics are included in peaceful and conflicting cultures? What are the feasible means of creating peaceful relationships? What are the important challenges and the peaceful options facing humankind now and in the future? These questions do not have a single answer, mainly because of the broad range of human experience and the complexity of relations from the local to the international. Subjects covered on this course include: International Relations, International Law, Cross Cultural Social Perspectives, Human Rights, Protection of Human Rights, International Legal Procedures, Third World & Developing Nations, World Politics & Globalization, Terrorism, International Crime & Security, The UN & International Organizations, International Conflict Resolution, Diplomatic Relations, Ethics & Social Responsibility and Peace Studies. Subjects account for 3 academic credits each. The Peace Studies program is available at Specialist, Expert, Bachelor's, Master's & Ph.D. (Doctoral) Degree levels.
