The college was established in 1964, and being the largest community college in New England it now offers more than 90 degree and certificate programs. The school grants the Associate in Arts (A.A.), the Associate in Science (A.S.), the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.), the Associate in Applied Science in Technical Studies (A.A.S.-T.S.) and the Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.) degrees. It strives to offer recent high school graduates as well as adult learners the opportunity to grow personally and intellectually through the access to higher education. Additionally, the school’s Center for Workforce and Community Education provides non-credit classes for workforce training and personal enrichment, and boasts a very high number of annual registrations.
The Community College of Rhode Island prides itself with the fact that many of its graduating student transfer to four-year colleges and universities, which in a way proves the quality of its academic programs.
