The Jaume I University is a university, operating in the city of Castellón de la Plana, Spain. The school was established in 1991, and it has gained the European Gold Seal of Excellence 500+ for the quality management they carry out in all spheres of activity. Universitat Jaume I is known to be a pioneer in the use of the new information technologies, as it was the first academic institution in Spain to become part of the World Wide Web. Most importantly, it developed a browser, which actually became one of the most commonly used browsers in Spain. Furthermore, Universitat Jaume I is the first Spanish university to have a Centre for Education and New Technologies (CENT) with a direct link to primary and secondary schools. Finally, it is the first university in Spain to install in each one of its lecture rooms, audiovisual equipment and computers provided with Internet connection.
The school offers 31 undergraduate degrees, 45 postgraduate master’s degrees, 12 UJI-specific master’s degrees, and 50 specialization courses, with 89% of the student body pursuing an undergraduate degree. Areas of study include Social and Law Sciences, Arts and Humanities, and Engineering and Architecture.
