Academic Programs International is an independent study abroad provider, located in the USA. The programs that the institution offers vary in length and purpose: they can last for two weeks or one year; they can be intensive language courses, but there is also availability of courses for almost every major discipline in a number of languages of instruction. API always tries to match the program according to the student’s needs. Locations include Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Portugal, Croatia, Germany, Iceland, Scotland, Bhutan, China, Australia, New Zealand, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Qatar, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. Furthermore, API takes care of housing and educational arrangements as well as excursions in each program. A scholarship opportunity of $250–1000 is provided, too, the amount being partially based on financial need and partially based on the student's merits (essays/recommendations). API university and institutional partners are either fully accredited foreign universities or institutes with U.S. schools of record.

Contemporary Hispanic Studies
The Contemporary Hispanic Studies program at the Academic Programs International (API) is a study-abroad program provided by University of Seville for international students who are at the beginner level of fluency in the Spanish language. This program is specifically for students with an interest in starting their studies of the Spanish language and Hispanic culture directly from the source. Some of the subjects that enrolled students will study include Spanish vocabulary and composition, Spanish literature and film, flamenco music study, and more. Esade International Studies Summer
The Esade International Studies Summer program at the Academic Programs International (API) is a study-abroad program provided by Esade University for international undergraduates and graduate students. This program is specifically for students with an interest in international studies and/or business. The Hispanic and Multidisciplinary Integrated Studies program at the Academic Programs International (API) is a study-abroad program provided by Universidad de Cádiz (University of Cádiz) that is similar to the Multidisciplinary Integrated Studies program but with a focus on studying mostly in the Spanish Language. This program is specifically for students with an interest in studying various disciplines with Spanish students to gain a better understanding of the Spanish language. Paris to Barcelona Summer Program
The Paris to Barcelona Summer Program at the Academic Programs International (API) is a study-abroad program provided by Parsons Paris – The New School, and ELISAVA – Barcelona School of Design and Engineering international undergraduates and adult learners. This program is specifically for students with an interest in the culinary arts and/or design. Some of the subjects that enrolled students will study include visual merchandising, design, food culture, and consumer evolutions. Students who complete this program can earn up to four credits and take their earned credits to further their studies in the culinary or design industries respectively.

Admission Requirements

Once potential students have discussed with their home school studying abroad with the Academic Programs International (API), the general requirements for admission are as follows: at least 18 years-old, a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5, a completed API application, an official transcript, a valid passport or permit for Non-EU students (student visa for programs over 90 days), any level of Spanish language fluency,supplementary documentation, (dependent on program), a completed Intent to Enroll form with payment, a completed University contact information form, a letter of recommendation. Some programs require a G.P.A. of 2.75 or higher.

Language Requirements

Some programs accept any level of fluency in the Spanish language, while others require a higher level of fluency in the Spanish language.

Fees

There is a non-refundable $150.00 deposit due after completing the online application. Program payments are due in full prior to the start of the program unless the student is paying with financial aid. Students accepted into API's study abroad program must pay a non-refundable $400.00 confirmation payment (applied to the program cost), and a $275.00 security deposit, of which $180.00 is refundable if no damage/ excessive utility usage is assessed during the applicants stay. Although there are no payment plan options, the Alternative Payment Arrangement is an extension of the final payment to API and is subject to a $1,000.00 down payment (put toward the final balance) and a fee of $150.00. Please note that late fees are applicable and program fees vary, so applicants should assess their selected program fee breakdown.

Program Duration

Study program range from 10-18 credits per quarter/semester session and 3-9 credits per summer session.

Financial Aid

API does offer scholarships for their programs and students are encouraged to apply early.

Housing

Some programs have the options of a student dormitory, host family, or student apartment. Housing is included in the program fee for certain study programs unless otherwise noted.
