Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) is a public, autonomous, not-for-profit university in Ifrane, a town in the Middle Atlas mountains of Morocco. It was founded by royal decree (Dahir) in 1993 and opened to students in January 1995. Its academic organisation is modelled on the American university system, with a liberal arts curriculum taught in English. AUI is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), with accreditation renewed in 2022 through 2032, and is recognised by the Moroccan state. The School of Business Administration holds EFMD EPAS accreditation, and designated engineering programmes are ABET-accredited.

Teaching is organised in three schools offering bachelor's (BSc, BA), master's (MSc, MBA) and Executive MBA programmes:

AUI also runs a Language Center, whose Intensive English Program is CEA-accredited, and an Honors Program. According to the university, it had 3,750 students in fall 2023, its community represents 39 nationalities, it has more than 400 academic partnerships, and 72% of students spend one or two semesters abroad. The 75-hectare residential campus includes 21 student residences. Admission decisions are issued in July for the fall semester and in December for the spring semester.

Master's-level programmes (MSc and MBA) cover areas such as Big Data Analytics & Software Engineering, Financial Technology and Sustainable Energy Management. Executive education includes the Executive MBA and City Planning executive courses.

The Financial Aid Office offers scholarships, grants, loans and work-study employment based on academic merit and financial need; the university states that 50% of students receive merit scholarships and/or need-based aid. There are also discounts for siblings and children of alumni, and a graduate scholarship application. Aid depends on available funds and is not guaranteed to every qualified applicant.

AUI has a residential campus with 21 student residences. The dorms have heating, cable television, kitchens and laundries. Housing is managed by the university's Housing Services ([email protected]).
