California State University, Long Beach (CSULB, Cal State Long Beach) is a public university in Long Beach, California (United States), and part of the California State University (CSU) system. Founded more than 75 years ago, it occupies a 322-acre campus.

International first-year applicants apply through Cal State Apply with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must meet the English requirement; the university also has an American Language Institute. The university also welcomes exchange students and has on-campus housing.

Admission Requirements

  • Apply through Cal State Apply ($70 application fee)
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (B) on the CSULB scale for all majors
  • At least one year of secondary school mathematics, three years for STEM majors
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • Mandatory audition for music and dance
  • Application periods: 1 October to 1 April for fall, 1 July to 1 October for spring; some programmes close earlier

Fees

2026-27 academic year (undergraduate): tuition and mandatory fees of US$4,376 per semester for full-time study (7+ units). Students who are not California residents pay an additional US$471 per unit. Graduate and doctoral programmes have their own rates.
