California State University Stanislaus, also known as Stanislaus State or Stan State, is a public university in Turlock, in California's Central Valley, within reach of the San Francisco Bay Area, Yosemite National Park and Sacramento. Its main campus in Turlock dates from 1965 and covers 228 acres; a second, 102-acre campus opened in Stockton in 1996. The university describes itself as Hispanic-serving and has a student-to-faculty ratio of 17 to 1. According to the university, it has appeared on The Princeton Review's 'Best 391' list for 20 years in a row.
Undergraduate and graduate programmes are taught in four colleges:
- Business Administration
- Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
- Education, Kinesiology and Social Work
- Science
International students apply through Cal State Apply, and the office of International Education and Global Engagement handles their admission; it also manages exchange students and language and culture programmes. Undergraduates need IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 61 (3.5 on the new scale). Stan State runs its own on-campus housing, and the university states that 8 in 10 students receive grants or scholarships.

International undergraduate applicants apply online through Cal State Apply and send:
- The non-refundable application fee of US$70
- Original or certified academic records with a literal English translation, sent directly by the issuing institution or in a sealed envelope
- An official English test score report
- A Certificate of Finance form and a financial statement no older than six months
- A copy of the passport photo page
Transfer students need a minimum GPA of 2.0. Applications are processed only once all documents have arrived.
Undergraduate applicants need one of:
- TOEFL iBT 61, with part scores of 15 (or 3.5 on the new scale)
- IELTS 6.0, with part scores of 6.0
Exemptions apply to applicants with ACT or SAT scores, to those who studied full-time for at least three years in a school taught in English, and to transfer students with an English Composition course at a US institution (grade B or higher).
Housing & Residential Life runs the only university-affiliated student housing at Stan State, with several room types and communities and on-campus dining. Rates are all-inclusive. Places are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis through the housing application.
