Cape Studies is a privately owned English language school in Green Point, Cape Town, South Africa, founded in 1995. It is registered under the South African Further Education Act and with the Department of Education, so students can obtain a study permit if required, and it is accredited as a skills development provider with the QCTO. Its courses are also approved for Bildungsurlaub (educational leave) in Germany. Students come from many countries, including Brazil, Germany, Gabon, Mozambique, Angola, Japan and Switzerland.

  • Standard Course: 20 lessons of General English per week, Monday to Friday mornings
  • Intensive Course: 30 lessons per week, adding afternoon General or Business English (from a good intermediate level)
  • Private lessons, added to either course

Lessons last 50 minutes, classes have at most eight students and there are at least six levels. New students take a placement test on Monday morning, and each week ends with a test; a course certificate is included. The school charges no deposit at booking and no cancellation fee before the course starts. Students can live in the self-catering residence on the school premises or with a local host, and a free welcome transfer is included when accommodation is booked through the school.

Housing

  • Self-catering student residence on the school premises in Green Point: single or double rooms with shared bathrooms, a fully equipped shared kitchen, a braai (barbecue) area, swimming pool and patio
  • Homestay with a South African host: single room with breakfast; hosts live close to the school, most within walking distance

A free welcome transfer is included when accommodation is booked through the school.
