Hong Kong Chu Hai College

University, Graduate school in Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Hong Kong Chu Hai College (香港珠海學院), listed here as Chu Hai College of Higher Education, is a degree-granting college in Hong Kong. It was registered in July 2004 under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap. 320), and in October of the same year the Chief Executive in Council approved it to award degrees for its accredited bachelor's programmes. The college describes this as a step towards becoming a private university. Its new campus is on Castle Peak Bay in Tuen Mun, on land granted by the Education Bureau in 2009.

In 2014 and 2015 the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) granted the college Programme Area Accreditation in four programme areas, covering nine subjects:

  • Chinese language and Chinese literature
  • Journalism and mass communication
  • Accounting, finance and business administration
  • Civil engineering
  • Architecture

Bachelor's degrees follow a four-year structure and are recognised under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework. Twelve master's programmes have also passed accreditation, among them a master's in Chinese studies and one in cultural and creative industries and Chinese studies.
