Conservatorio Superior de Danza de València Nacho Duato
Higher education centre in Valencia, Spain
The Conservatori Superior de Dansa de València Nacho Duato (CSDV) is a public higher dance conservatory in Valencia, located on Camino de Vera. It trains dance professionals for choreography, performance, dance teaching, educational and community projects, research and artistic innovation.
After four years of study, students obtain the official Grado en Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores de Danza in their speciality, a qualification at level 2 of the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (MECES), like any university bachelor's degree. The CSDV offers both dance specialities:
- Dance Pedagogy, in classical, Spanish or social dance
- Choreography and Performance, in contemporary dance
From the third year, students choose an itinerary: professional teaching; social, educational and well-being dance; or dance performance. Since 2021-22 a student advice service (SAOA) offers employment, legal and artistic advice, physiotherapy and psychological support, and a mentoring programme.
Applicants need the Bachillerato, the university entrance exam for over-25s, or a higher arts, university or Técnico Superior qualification, and must pass a specific entrance exam; there is a separate version of the exam for applicants living abroad. The CSDV takes part in Erasmus+: incoming students come through bilateral agreements with their home institution.
