The Escola Superior de Disseny i d'Arts Plàstiques de Catalunya (ESDAPC) is the official public higher school of design and visual arts of the Departament d'Educació i Formació Professional of the Generalitat de Catalunya. It has seven campuses in Catalonia: Deià and Llotja in Barcelona, Olot, Ondara (Tàrrega), Pau Gargallo (Badalona), Serra i Abella (L'Hospitalet de Llobregat) and Vic.

ESDAPC teaches the Título de Grado en Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores de Diseño, an official qualification equivalent to a university bachelor's degree, over four academic years: a common first year followed by three years of specialisation. Four specialities are offered:

  • Graphic Design (six campuses)
  • Interior Design (five campuses)
  • Fashion Design (Llotja)
  • Product Design (Llotja)

At the Llotja campus it also offers an official master's degree, the Máster en Enseñanzas Artísticas in Codiseño social aplicado a proyectos del sector público. Admission to the degree requires passing a specific entrance test. ESDAPC has held the Erasmus charter since 2012 and has bilateral agreements with design and visual arts schools in Europe and beyond.

Programmes

Título de Grado en Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores de Diseño: four years, with a common first year, three years of specialisation and a wide range of electives. Specialities and campuses:

  • Graphic Design: editorial, corporate, advertising, signage, packaging, digital and interface design, animation, motion graphics and type design (Llotja, Olot, Ondara, Pau Gargallo, Serra i Abella, Vic)
  • Interior Design: workplaces, retail, hospitality, housing, ephemeral spaces, stage sets, events and exhibitions (Deià, Llotja, Olot, Ondara, Vic)
  • Fashion Design (Llotja)
  • Product Design: objects, packaging, furniture, lighting, games and accessories (Llotja)

Graduate programmes

Máster en Enseñanzas Artísticas en Codiseño social aplicado a proyectos del sector público (Llotja campus): an official master's degree in the European Higher Education Area, at level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework, focused on social design and service innovation. It runs over two semesters and includes 15 ECTS of professional placement and a 15 ECTS master's thesis. Applicants need a bachelor's degree (grado) and language knowledge at CEFR level B2.

Admission

Admission to the degree requires the Bachillerato, or the university entrance exam for over-25s, or a higher vocational qualification (CFGS), and passing a specific entrance test. Registering for the test also counts as pre-registration; applicants can choose from one up to eight combinations of campus and speciality. Holders of a Técnico Superior de Artes Plásticas y Diseño have direct access without the test, with two places reserved per group of 24.
