Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Alicante
Language school in Alicante, Spain
The Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Alicante (EOI Alicante) is a public official language school in Alicante, in the Valencian Community, under the regional Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Universidades. It is located at Calle Marqués de Molins 56-58 and offers a public place to learn, improve and certify a level in 11 languages, among them Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese. Teenagers from 14 and adults can study.
Spanish is taught as a foreign language (Español como lengua extranjera) by its own department, which runs courses in the 2026-27 academic year. Regular courses last 120 hours, and the curriculum of each language sets how many of them lead to each certificate level. Across the school, curricular courses can be face-to-face (standard or intensive), blended or distance, and EOI Alicante is one of the Valencian EOIs that teach distance courses. Short 30- or 60-hour courses for practising speaking can be taken alongside regular classes.
Admission and enrolment for 2026-27 are handled online on the regional Adminova platform, with an ordinary round in June and an extraordinary round in September. A placement test places new students with prior knowledge in the right course. The school is open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 21:00 and on Fridays from 8:00 to 14:00.
