Fleming College (Sir Sandford Fleming College) is a college in Ontario, Canada, with its Sutherland Campus in Peterborough, the Frost Campus in Lindsay, a campus in Haliburton and a further site in Norwood. It awards Ontario College certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas and graduate certificates, many with co-op work placements.

Programmes include several in environmental and natural resource fields, for example:

  • Aquaculture (graduate certificate, co-op)
  • Conservation Biology and Ecosystem Management Technician
  • Fish and Wildlife Technician and Forestry Technician
  • Arboriculture (co-op)
  • Electrical Engineering Technology (co-op) and trades such as Heavy Equipment Operator

International students start in September, January or May and apply through the Ontariocolleges.ca international application, directly or through an approved agent. Some programmes are eligible for Canada's Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). Students who need to improve their English can take the eight-level English Language Bridge programme in Peterborough. International Student Services helps with the move to Canada, and there are on-campus residences in Peterborough, Lindsay and Haliburton.

Admission Requirements

  • Intakes in September, January and May
  • Apply through the Ontariocolleges.ca international application, directly or through an approved agent; new applicants pay a CAD 100 application fee
  • Diploma programmes: certified secondary school transcripts; graduate certificates: certified university or college transcripts
  • Documents not in English need an official translation
  • Proof of English proficiency is required
  • The college aims to send offers within 5-10 business days

Language Requirements

  • Diplomas and certificates: IELTS Academic 6.0 (no band below 5.5), TOEFL iBT 80 (no section below 20; 4 on the scale used from 2026), Duolingo 105, PTE Academic 46
  • Graduate certificates: IELTS Academic 6.5 (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88 (no section below 22; 4.5 from 2026), Duolingo 120, PTE Academic 56
  • Pharmacy Technician and Respiratory Therapy have higher requirements

English can also be shown by completing Level 8 of Fleming's English Language Bridge (ELB) programme (eight levels of eight weeks, 24 hours of classes per week) or through previous study in English.

Financial Aid

International students applying to a certificate, diploma, advanced diploma or graduate certificate for Fall 2026 or Winter 2027 can receive an Entry Scholarship of up to $3,200 towards tuition, subject to availability.

Housing

On-campus residences in Peterborough, Lindsay and Haliburton offer furnished suites with a full kitchen and private bedrooms. For 2026-27 the residence fee is $4,345 for one semester or $8,690 for two (plus application fee, deposit and activity fee). Only students who have applied to a full-time programme and have a Fleming student ID can apply.
