The Instituto de Lengua y Cultura Españolas (ILCE) is an international research institute for the teaching, testing and learning of Spanish language and culture at the Universidad de Navarra (Spain). Its faculty and graduate students carry out research in applied linguistics and in the teaching and learning of Spanish as a second language, and ILCE teaches Spanish at undergraduate and graduate level.

Courses run in the fall and spring semesters, in winter and summer sessions and as custom-made programmes. Subjects include:

• Communication and culture in Spanish
• Literature, cinema, history and art
• Academic writing and linguistics
• Spanish for the professions
• Civic and service-learning courses (Transformative Experience track)
• Digital storytelling

These courses form the core of the ILCE Hispanic Studies major and minor (Diploma de Estudios Hispánicos). ILCE also runs summer programmes, designs customised Spanish courses for specific professions and organises a Spanish club. In addition, it carries out research on language testing and administers three main types of Spanish proficiency exams, including an online Spanish certification exam.
