Indiana University of Pennsylvania
University in Indiana, The United States
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) is a public university and part of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education. Its main campus is in Indiana, Pennsylvania (United States), a college town of about 15,000 people some 70 minutes from Pittsburgh. Founded more than 150 years ago, it is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and holds the Carnegie R2 classification (high research activity).
IUP offers more than 100 undergraduate and more than 40 graduate degree programmes at bachelor's, master's and doctoral level, in fields from biochemistry, nursing and cybersecurity to education, theatre, counselling, safety sciences and business (MBA). Its culinary academy in Punxsutawney offers associate degrees in culinary arts and baking and pastry, and a College of Osteopathic Medicine has opened applications for the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
Students come from more than 60 countries. The American Language Institute runs full-time intensive English programmes and a bridge route to conditional admission for undergraduates. All degree-seeking international students on F-1 or J-1 visas are automatically considered for a partial tuition waiver, and exchange students can spend one or two semesters at IUP.

Full-time undergraduates receive US$2,500 per semester and must complete 40 hours of community service each semester; graduate students receive US$140 per credit (up to 9 credits). Graduate students may also hold departmental assistantships, and private loans usually need a US co-signer.
Housing
IUP offers on-campus suites, single rooms and upper-division housing, and most first-year students must live on campus. Degree-seeking students in suite housing on the Indiana campus receive a housing scholarship of US$500 per semester in the first year, US$750 in the second and US$1,000 in the third and fourth years; new students must sign up by 1 May 2027 to receive it. Websites such as iuphousing.com are private off-campus rentals, not IUP housing.
