Lacordaire Academy is an independent Catholic day school in the Dominican tradition in Upper Montclair, New Jersey, about 20 miles from New York City. It offers education from Pre-K to grade 12: the Lower and Middle Schools (Pre-K to grade 8) are co-educational, and the Upper School (grades 9 to 12) is for girls only. The school has been teaching for more than 100 years, is accredited by Middle States and is a member of NAIS and NJAIS. Its three-acre campus has a capacity of about 290 students.

Core classes have 15 to 19 students. Applicants submit an online application, transcripts, test scores and teacher recommendations and attend an interview or assessment. Merit scholarships and limited need-based financial aid are available only in the Upper School.

All applicants submit an online application with a non-refundable $75 fee, academic records and teacher recommendations, and families have an interview with the Admissions team. Upper School (grades 9-12) applicants also provide:
- Three years of transcripts
- Standardized test scores (COOP/HSPT, SSAT or ISEE preferred)
- Two teacher recommendations
- An interview with the Director of Admissions
Middle School applicants take an assessment in reading, writing and maths. Upper School transfer applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Tuition for the 2026-27 school year:
- Upper School (grades 9-12): $21,000
- Middle School (grades 5-8): $17,200
- Lower School (grades 1-4): $16,500
- Kindergarten: $16,750
Tuition may be paid annually, quarterly or monthly. Required fees include a $100 Parent Association fee and a $500 Upper School activities fee. Siblings receive a 5% (two children) or 10% (three or more) tuition reduction for the younger student(s).
Upper School (grades 9-12) admission for the 2027-28 school year:

- Financial aid applications due: Wednesday 16 December 2026, 11:59 p.m.
Transfer applications for grades 9-12 are accepted on a rolling basis; financial aid is not offered to transfer applicants.
Merit scholarships and limited financial aid are available only to Upper School students, mainly incoming 9th graders:
- Veronica E. James Scholarship: four years of full tuition for one applicant each year with strong academics and significant financial need
- Veritas Scholarship and Dominican Spirit Scholarship: $1,000-$3,000 a year, renewable with a 3.0 GPA
- Legacy Scholarship: $2,000 a year for daughters of alumnae
- Need-based aid, assessed through Blackbaud; families contribute at least 15% of tuition
The school is need-aware, and aid applicants must also apply to The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children.
