McKendree University is a private university in Lebanon, Illinois, in the St. Louis region, offering undergraduate and graduate programmes on its Lebanon campus and online. It was established in 1828 by pioneer Methodists, describes itself as the oldest college in Illinois and keeps continuous ties to the United Methodist Church; it became McKendree University in 2007. The student-to-faculty ratio is 15:1.
McKendree offers more than 50 majors, some only on the Lebanon campus, and more than 100 study abroad opportunities. Fields include:

- Computer science, cybersecurity and applied artificial intelligence

International first-year applicants use a free application and submit translated secondary school transcripts and proof of English, for example IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 70. More than 50 undergraduate majors, plus minors and tracks; some are offered only on the Lebanon campus. Examples:

First-year international applicants submit:
- The application for first-year admission (free, online or on paper)
- Official secondary school transcripts and completion certificate, translated into English
- Proof of English proficiency
- Optional: essay and recommendation letter
Documents can be mailed to the Office of Admission in Lebanon or sent electronically to [email protected]. Transfer applicants follow a separate process.
International students prove English proficiency with one of the following minimum test scores:

Alternatives are a US college course equivalent to ENG 111 (Academic Writing), an approved intensive English programme, or a diploma from a school in certain English-speaking countries.
McKendree awards academic scholarships to international students who have been accepted. First-year international students receive merit scholarships at the time of admission, based on their application and academic merit; amounts vary. International transfer students with a GPA of 2.75-4.0 receive an annual transfer scholarship of US$8,000, and Phi Theta Kappa members receive an additional US$2,000 per year.
