Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza (IAMZ-CIHEAM)

CIHEAM Zaragoza, the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza, is one of the four institutes of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM), an intergovernmental organisation created in 1962 with 13 Mediterranean member states. The other institutes are in Bari, Chania and Montpellier, and the headquarters are in Paris. The Zaragoza institute is on the Aula Dei Campus, about 15 km from the city centre, linked to the city by the institute's daily coach and by city bus line 28.

Its main activities are Master of Science programmes, advanced courses for professionals, and research projects and networks in the agri-food sector. The MSc programmes last two academic years full time (120 ECTS credits) and are aimed at university graduates and professionals. Spain recognises the CIHEAM Master of Science as equivalent to an official Spanish master's degree. Most masters are run jointly with Spanish universities and other institutions, in Zaragoza and other Spanish cities, and new students are admitted every two years. Topics include:

• Marine aquaculture and sustainable fisheries management
• Animal breeding, reproduction and nutrition
• Plant genetics, genomics and breeding
• Olive growing and oil technology
• Agri-food marketing and entrepreneurship

Since 2014 the institute has also published a free, open-access collection of online courses, webinars and lectures.
