National Taiwan University (NTU) is a public research university in Taipei, Taiwan, founded in 1928. It has more than 34,000 students and over 6,400 faculty and staff, and its main address is No. 1, Sec. 4, Roosevelt Road. According to the university, NTU placed 54th in the 2027 QS World University Rankings.
About 7,000 international students study at NTU, around 3,300 of them on degree programmes and 3,700 on non-degree programmes; the university also admits exchange and visiting students and lists 640 partner universities. NTU states that it offers about 1,900 courses in English, and international students can take general Chinese courses after a placement test.
International degree applications are handled by the Office of International Affairs, with intakes in September and, for graduate degrees, in February. The first application round for September 2027 entry opens on 29 September, and international students can also apply for transfer admission to the second year. The office's website covers accommodation, tuition and fees, and work permits, and the university runs an International Mentorship Program. Since 1 January 2024, the Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) of international students in Taiwan can be extended for up to two years after graduation.
