Reykjavik University (RU)

University, Graduate school in Reykjavík, Iceland

Reykjavik University (Háskólinn í Reykjavík, RU) is a university in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, with about 4,000 students. Its history began with the Technical School of Iceland, founded in 1964, which gained university status in 2002 as the Technical University of Iceland and merged with Reykjavík University on 4 March 2005. All of its programmes are accredited by the Ministry of Education in Iceland. The campus lies near Öskjuhlíð Hill.

RU teaches at all levels of university study - undergraduate, master's and doctoral - and also runs preliminary study programmes and professional continuing education. It offers almost 700 courses a year, just over 500 at undergraduate level and about 160 at master's level. English-taught programmes cover technology, business, engineering, law, psychology and sports science. Other programmes include an Executive MBA, a Master of Project Management (MPM) and the Iceland School of Energy.

Tuition fees are charged per semester, generally two semesters a year, in Icelandic krónur (ISK), and depend on whether a student is classified as EU or non-EU/EEA. The university's student housing has 252 apartments in two complexes at Nauthólsvegur 83-85, a short walk from the main campus.
