University, Graduate school in Tetovo, North Macedonia

South East European University (SEEU) is a not-for-profit university in Tetovo, North Macedonia, with a second site in Skopje. It describes itself as a “private, public, not for profit” institution. One of its main aims is to contribute to higher education in the Albanian language, with a multilingual and multicultural approach to teaching and research.

SEEU has seven faculties and more than 80 study programmes at undergraduate, master's and doctoral level:

  • Contemporary Sciences and Technologies
  • Languages, Cultures and Communication
  • Law
  • Contemporary Social Sciences
  • Business and Economics
  • Health Sciences
  • Technical Sciences

Master's programmes are taught in Albanian, Macedonian or English, and some undergraduate programmes, such as Psychology, Nursing and Architecture and Design, are offered in English. English-taught programmes require at least CEFR level B1. Foreign students with secondary education completed outside North Macedonia can apply under the university's annual call for enrolment, open for 2026/2027. SEEU offers merit-based scholarships, a work and study programme and a siblings discount, and it takes part in Erasmus+.

Graduate programmes

Master's studies follow two models: 3+2 (four semesters, 120 ECTS credits) and 4+1 (two semesters, 60 ECTS credits); there are also one-year specialist professional studies. Examples:

  • Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Green Economy and Sustainable Development
  • Computer Sciences, Data Science, Software Engineering
  • Civil, Criminal, International and Constitutional Law
  • English Language Teaching, International Communication
  • International Relations and Diplomacy, Psychology, Public Administration

Classes are scheduled on Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturdays to suit working students. Doctoral studies require at least 300 ECTS credits.

Admission

Admission follows the annual call for enrolment approved by the University Senate. Applicants who completed secondary school outside North Macedonia are admitted on the basis of their secondary school results and must have their diploma recognised by the Ministry of Education and Science during the first year, with help from SEEU Student Services. Undergraduate applicants submit:

  • the online application form
  • the application fee of 1500 MKD (25 euros) for the 2026/2027 call
  • a motivation letter of at least 500 words
  • transcripts and secondary school diploma (originals or notarised copies)
  • a birth certificate and a copy of their ID or passport

Language requirements

All undergraduate applicants take an English test; it does not exclude anyone but sets their level for further language training. English-taught programmes require at least CEFR level B1 or an equivalent score in the SEEU Language Centre's institutional English test. Master's programmes are taught in Albanian, Macedonian or English, and because parts of any programme may be in English, students need Albanian and English or Macedonian and English.
