Sidmouth International School, now known as Hello! Sidmouth, is an independent English language school in Sidmouth, a seaside town in Devon on the South West coast of England. It was established in 1976, is accredited by the British Council and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2026. The school has joined forces with Hello! Exmouth. Its main building, May Cottage, is in the town centre, a five-minute walk from the seafront, with 12 classrooms on site. Teachers hold qualifications recognised by the British Council.

The school is open all year for long and short stays, and all courses start on a Monday. The year has two seasons: the Discovery Season in the summer holidays (19 June to 28 August 2027) and the Immersive Season the rest of the year, with smaller classes. The school books homestays with vetted local families free of charge and has separate host families for juniors and tweens. It also runs a travel assistance service to and from London Heathrow every Saturday and a social programme for all ages.

Housing

The school arranges homestays free of charge. Host families take only this school's students, with no other student of the same nationality and no mixing of age groups.

  • Adults, teenagers and young adults: single or shared room with breakfast and evening meal (light lunch at weekends); most homes are within walking distance, with a bus pass if further than 30 minutes
  • Juniors and tweens (8-13): dedicated host families, all meals and daily escorted transfers to school; most are placed outside Sidmouth
  • Self-catering, hotels and B&Bs in Sidmouth as alternatives

Adult members of host families for under-18s have a DBS police check.
