Southwestern Academy is a co-educational college preparatory boarding and day school in San Marino, just south of Pasadena in Southern California, United States. It teaches grades 6 to 12. The school states that it has about 100 students, around 70% of them boarders from several countries and the rest day students from local communities.
The curriculum is divided into a middle school and a high school programme. High school courses include:
- English, mathematics, social studies and laboratory sciences
- Advanced Placement courses, among them AP Literature, AP Language, AP Calculus AB and BC, AP Human Geography and AP European History
- Spanish I to III
- English Language Learner (ELL) classes in conversation, grammar, reading and vocabulary
- Electives such as art, drama, music, photography, robotics and creative writing
- Interscholastic and intramural sports
High school students also complete community service hours every year. Boarding tuition covers 7-day room and board, college counselling and tutoring; international students pay an additional fee that includes language support, airport transport and optional on-campus stays during breaks. Need-based financial aid grants are available. Besides the San Marino campus, the school has a Beaver Creek campus, and families are encouraged to visit before applying.

Southwestern Academy awards need-based financial aid grants, depending on the family's financial need and available funds. Families apply through the Clarity application with supporting documents. New families are encouraged to apply by 31 January for priority decisions, as the Financial Aid Committee reviews applications each February. Aid must be renewed every year.
