The Montessori School of the Mahoning Valley (MSMV) is a Montessori school for children aged 3 to 14. It describes itself as a child-centred community of families and educators, and its aim is to develop independent, life-long learning while teaching respect, responsibility and resourcefulness. Children are taught in mixed-age classrooms grouped by Montessori level.

Admission starts with an adults-only observation visit to a classroom, followed by a meeting with the Executive Director. Observations are scheduled from mid-October for entry the following spring or autumn. Families then return an application with a processing fee, and the child visits the school so that a teacher can assess developmental and behavioural readiness. Acceptance depends on available places, and a waiting pool is kept when there are more applicants than openings. The school admits students of any race, colour, gender or ethnic origin.

Acceptance depends on available places and on whether the programme suits the child; a waiting pool is kept when there are more applicants than openings. To secure a place, a non-refundable advance tuition payment of 10% of the gross tuition and a signed agreement are required.
