Universidad Austral is a private university in Argentina with a Christian identity; its creation was inspired by St Josemaría, and Opus Dei assists it in incorporating Christian principles into teaching. It was the first private Argentine university to achieve full autonomy, with definitive recognition granted by Decree 300/02. The university has three locations: the Pilar campus in Buenos Aires province, a site in the city of Buenos Aires and a site in Rosario. The Pilar campus covers more than 90 hectares and brings together the faculties, the IAE Business School, a business park, sports grounds and the Hospital Universitario Austral.

Undergraduate degrees include Law, Business Administration, Communication, Engineering (computer science, industrial, biomedical, AI and data), Medicine, Nursing, Psychology and International Relations. Postgraduate programmes, both in person and online, are offered by schools of communication, biomedical sciences, family studies, law, education, government, business, engineering and philosophy, and include a PhD in Philosophy run jointly with the Universidad de Navarra.

Admission starts with a personal interview, online or on the Pilar campus. The university reports a ratio of one teacher for every six students and states that 51% of its students receive a scholarship or incentive. Students coming from abroad receive help with accommodation, and the Altamira residence on the Pilar campus houses 40 female students in single en-suite rooms.

The university helps students coming from other parts of Argentina or from abroad to organise their arrival, including accommodation. On the Pilar campus, the Residencia Universitaria Altamira houses up to 40 female students in single rooms with en-suite bathrooms; places depend on availability and an application process. Services include cleaning, heating and air conditioning in the rooms, laundry, a fully equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi in common areas and three study rooms.
