The Universidad de Cádiz (UCA) is the university of Cádiz and its province, in Andalusia. It was created on 30 October 1979, when its first university senate (Claustro) was constituted, and continues a long tradition of higher studies in Cádiz linked to the city's maritime and commercial activity. Teaching takes place on four campuses: Cádiz, Puerto Real, Jerez de la Frontera and Bahía de Algeciras.
The UCA offers bachelor's degrees (grados), master's degrees and doctoral studies. Its bachelor's degrees include:
- Marine Sciences and Environmental Sciences
- Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy
- Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, and Nautical Studies
- Engineering, from Aerospace to Computer Engineering
- Law, Criminology, Business Administration and Education
- Languages and humanities, including Arabic and Islamic Studies
- Double degrees combining two fields
The bachelor's degree in Sustainable Blue Economy (SeaBluE) is run within the SEA-EU alliance together with the University of Naples Parthenope and the University of Gdansk; applications go through the SEA-EU website. In the first semester of the 2026-27 academic year the UCA received 621 Erasmus and visiting students. Its language centre, the Centro Superior de Lenguas Modernas (CSLM), offers foreign-language courses. The university runs its own housing in Cádiz, the Colegio Mayor de la Universidad de Cádiz and the Residencia Internacional La Caleta, and its Student Office lists further residences and flat-sharing services.
