Université Côte d’Azur (UniCA) is a research-intensive university on the French Riviera, with more than 32,000 students, over 50 research laboratories and 860 international partners. It is one of nine French universities holding the Initiative d’Excellence (IdEx) label, awarded in January 2016, and is organised around Écoles Universitaires de Recherche (graduate schools of research). Its campuses are mainly in Nice (Valrose, Saint Jean-d’Angély, Trotabas, Carlone, Pasteur and others), with further sites in Sophia Antipolis, Cannes and Menton.

French and European applicants to the first year use Parcoursup, while non-EU applicants go through the DAP or the Campus France “Études en France” procedure. Housing is available in CROUS university residences and through the partner platform Studapart.

Bachelor's degrees (licence) are organised in portals by field:
- Economics and management
- Law and political science
- Science and technology, life sciences
- Literature, languages, art and communication; humanities and social sciences
- Sport sciences (STAPS)
Other undergraduate routes include the IUT Nice Côte d’Azur, Polytech engineering (preparatory and engineering cycles), medicine, dentistry and physiotherapy (IFMK).
Master's degrees and doctorates are offered across the university's schools. In addition, 11 international MSc programmes (IdEx programmes, state-accredited) are taught fully in English, for example:

- MSc Modeling for Neuronal and Cognitive Science
- MSc Environmental Hazards and Risks Management
The university also takes part in the EIT Digital master's programme.
Admission to the first year of a bachelor's degree (L1) depends on the applicant's situation:
- French and European students: the national Parcoursup platform
- Non-EU school-leavers living in a country with a Campus France office: the online “Études en France” procedure
- Non-EU school-leavers resident in France: green DAP (Demande d’Admission Préalable)
- Non-EU school-leavers in countries not covered by Études en France: white DAP, through the French embassy
For September entry, the DAP application period runs from 1 October to 15 December of the previous year. Admitted students then complete an administrative registration, online or in person. Separate procedures apply to Licence 2 and 3, master's and doctoral degrees.
Students on the international MSc (IdEx) programmes can apply for excellence scholarships for top students. The MSc fees and funding section also links to the Campus France grant search engine.
- CROUS university residences: 13 in the area (10 in Nice, 2 in Sophia Antipolis, 1 in Cannes), from 9 m² rooms to 20-30 m² studios, all furnished with internet; apply through the online Student Social File (DSE), main period 15 January to 31 May; places are limited and not guaranteed
- Studapart, the university's housing partner platform, with discounted booking fees
- Private student residences with studios or two-room flats of 17-40 m²
- Private rentals through the CROUS portal Lokaviz
- Afev solidarity flatshares in Nice or Cannes (rent 180-230 euros before housing aid, with 5 hours a week of volunteering)
